The origin of +he Academy

In 2004, the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE) with a view to encouraging the exchange of clinical experience, scientific thought and investigation among gynaecological endoscopists and practitioners, decided to establish an apolitical body for scientific research and standardization.

Hence, The European Academy of Gynaecological Endoscopy was founded on 10 September 2004 as an independent, non-profit organization under Belgian Law (company number 267 055 779) by Dr. R. Campo, Prof. D. Wallwiener and Dr. Y. Van Belle.

On 7 August 2007, the name was changed to The European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery (EAGS) to harmonize with the name of the journal published by +he Academy.

+he Academy is recognised by and represents the ESGE with a seat on the standing committee for training and assessment of the European Board & College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EBCOG).
